This is how you connect an ATS system to your website

Each ATS system has its own way of integrating with your website. Some systems use an iframe to link vacancies, others have developed a special API link or even a WordPress plugin.

Each integration method has its own advantages and disadvantages. If you want complete control, it is recommended to make the connection via an API. With an API, the web builder can place the vacancies in the desired format on their own website, but this does require programming work. Do you not want to outsource the connection? Then hope for an available plugin or settle for an iframe link. We explain the advantages and disadvantages of each type of connection further below.

  1. Via iframes: the ATS provides a piece of HTML code that integrates part of the ATS website into your website. This only requires some copy-and-pasting and can therefore be done without extensive technical knowledge. The downside: this method offers limited options and can cause problems with mobile use. In addition, you probably have to do some styling to show everything in the same corporate identity and traffic runs via the ATS. That means you probably won't be able to track data in Google Analytics. You already read it. Simple, but limited.
  2. Via a plugin: Major ATS systems often offer a WordPress plugin that you can download from the WordPress plugin repository. After you install the plugin and enter the authentication codes, the connection to the ATS will be made. Depending on the plugin, shortcodes are used to generate a view to show the vacancies. You will also often have to fine-tune the styling to reflect the vacancies in the corporate identity of the website.
  3. Via an API: this is the most technical, but also most dynamic option. An API link 'talks' to the website and the ATS, giving the website builder the most freedom to connect and style everything. This is also the best option if you want to set up external integrations such as Google for Jobs and XML feeds.

Choosing the right integration method depends on your wishes and the capabilities of the ATS. It can be useful to sit down with all parties involved to discuss the desired functionalities and costs before making a choice.
